Murasaki Shikibu, one of Japan’s most famous poets and writers, she lived with her father in Echizen Takefu for a time. The park was created to commemorate her visit to this area. A golden statue of her stands in the park; there is a 200-meter-long wisteria trellis, and a festival is held every year when the wisteria blooms.
