There is a custom in Fukui to eat japanese sweets of Mizu-yokan, a cold Japanese confectionery, during the cold winter months. This winter confectionery is available year-round at the cafe Tabaki. The Mizu-yokan was perfected by the owner through repeated prototyping, and is characterized by its smooth and the sweetness of the brown sugar. The cafe’s original way of eating it is to sprinkle a little matcha, soybean flour, or coffee powder on it and they also recommend eating it on the included Monaka.
Please try it once when you stop by Echizen Takefu.
